Eclipse Restaurant’s Warrior Moon Show

The Warrior Moon Show has an intimate Cirque de Soleil vibe to it. There are jaw-dropping aerial acrobatics, vibrant songs, and excellently synchronized dance moves. The dancers look into your eyes as they sing and may serenade your date if you’re not careful!

The Warrior Moon storyline is about a Princess who embarks on a quest to set free to captives of the Evil Sorcerer. Who are the captives you might ask? We are! As the audience gets captured in the Warrior Moon universe, I felt transported. This is Sandton’s most epic battle: Warrior Princess vs the Evil Sorcerer.

The evening starts off with an introduction from the Evil Sorcerer as he hypes us up to play the drums in sync. I really didn’t know what to expect with this performance and thoroughly enjoyed grabbing my drum and trying to catch the rhythm. Throughout the show, there are opportunities to pick up your drum and play along with the evil sorcerer. Is it bad that the Evil Sorcerer is my favorite character?

The aerialist is an exciting aspect of the Warrior Moon dinner. Your jaw will drop as you watch her incredible feats climbing above the audience to drop down and even dance through fire. Everything she did was amazing.

The show has fantastic vocals as well and I loved the pairing of modern and Disney songs from Tarzan, Pocahontas, and Spirit. One of my favorite parts of the show was Destiny’s Child Survivor song rendition and dance routine. You’ll have to just see it for yourself.

Shows rotate throughout the year so visit soon if you want to witness this particular one.

Dinner at Eclipse Restaurant

Upon arrival, we were served our welcome drink (alcoholic and nonalcoholic available) and received bread for the table. There is a three-course menu that includes veg options.

I thought the timing of the dishes was well thought out and our food was hot even though there were several tables being served their meals at once. Our appetizers were brought out before the first act, our mains in the intermission before the second act, and our desserts at the end of the show.

I got a vichyssoise (read: delicious potato soup, I had to look it up) with leek fluff for my starter (it’s more than in looks in the picture as you’ll get an extra pour) , and for my main I got the deboned and rolled lamb. I don’t usually order meat, but the slow-cooked lamb shoulder with potatoes and baby veggies sounded really good to me. And I absolutely loved the dish.

Wilhelm got the veg options on the menu. He started with the miso-marinated smoked tofu, which came in a bao bun with sesame, citrus slaw, and lime and herb tofu puree. Following, as the main veg, he got the smoked exotic mushroom gnocchi.

For dessert, we got the textures of chocolate and the cheese platter. The chocolate dish came with chocolate sponge cake and a milk chocolate sorbet. It was nice to see a cheese option on the menu and I enjoyed the selection but could barely finish because I was already so full!

Check out the menu here.

Stay until after dessert is over as the dance floor opens up!

Tips:
  • The waiters don’t walk around during the acts and so you should order any drinks you want between acts.
  • It is possible to eat earlier. Some of the tables around us were on their dessert course by the first act. They must have arrived around 6pm for dinner and started then. However, I enjoyed eating while watching the show.
  • Don’t want the party to end? Spend a night at Hotel Sky while you’re here for your staycation or getaway in Sandton.

Face Painting at Eclipse Restaurant

Face painting is available for Friday and Saturday night performances. The cost is R100 and you can use a card or cash. Pick your colors to match your outfit or get something totally different. Everyone is encouraged to get face paint and there were several couples that got matching face “tattoos.” Although I think R100 for face paint that I’ll wash off in 2 hours is a little steep, I was very pleased with my glitter and took 100 selfies.

Tip: I recommend getting the face paint upon arrival so you can feel sparkly all night. I waited until the intermission (when the FOMO kicked in). I wish I had glitter on my face for the whole evening.

Who should you take with you?

This is the perfect experience for someone celebrating an anniversary or birthday or just a fancy date you want to wow. There was also a work group celebrating their first outing together since COVID!  If you’re planning to treat someone who loves attention, dinner at Eclipse Restaurant will be a fun experience because at the beginning of the show, the Dream Giver takes the time to go around the room mentioning special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.

Photo Opps at Eclipse Restaurant

Eclipse restaurant has plenty of photo opportunities. The most stunning is the chandelier staircase which is located by the elevator that you will take up from the ground floor. I highly suggest taking some fun shots.

There is also a red carpet upon which to enter Eclipse.

And some fun mirrors and jungle-esque wallpaper.

Step onto the balcony during the intermission.

The Eclipse Restaurant Warrior Moon experience was very unique and totally transported me. For R895 a person, you’re not just getting a great meal, but you’ll also feel like you experienced something magical. And have the face paint to prove it!
