Best Hotels in Kigali (Advice from Someone Who Lives Here!)
Rwanda is quickly becoming a destination for conferences, events, and tourism, so whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, a weekend or a week, I’ve rounded up the best hotels in Kigali. Before moving to Kigali in 2025, we actually came here for vacation and loved wandering around the city before the start of our 10-Day Rwanda Itinerary. I also visited Kigali for a conference before eventually moving here, so I’ve experienced the city from both a traveler’s and a resident’s perspective. Kigali is safe, clean, and incredibly welcoming, and many visitors who come for just a weekend quickly find themselves wishing they had planned to stay longer.
You can see exactly where all the hotel are on my Google Maps List. Prices are estimates from my research based on 2 people for 1 night. Check the links for accurate availability and prices.
For a short stay, I’d suggest the Zaria Court area for a mix of modern Kigali with classic sites as it’s close to the shops, a popular foodie + bar street, and a 20 minute walk to the largest fruit+veg market.

Neighborhoods in Kigali
I’ve been here for a year and can barely remember all the neighborhood names, haha. So don’t worry if you don’t remember them either.
Kisimenti (vibing stadium area)
Zaria Court, which opened in early 2025, is quickly becoming a sports and lifestyle hub and a great location for the best hotels in Kigali. The area was already well known for Amahoro Stadium and BK Arena, but it now also hosts the impressive Zaria Court Hotel inside a multi-use complex.
With shops, restaurants, and fitness facilities nearby, this is a great area for spending a weekend on foot and experiencing Kigali like a local.
Luma & Lua
$80/night
Luma & Lua is beautiful boutique hotel just a few blocks from Zaria Court. It also has an excellent restaurant on site and a vibrant Mediterranean feel throughout the property. You can read my full review from my stay.
Zaria Court Hotel
$150/night
Located within the Zaria Court complex, if you are looking for a unique experience in a modern setting, Zaria Court Hotel is a strong pick. The rooftop bar is popular and the area has a lot of shops and restaurants around. Oftentimes, sports professionals stay here during tournaments. I’ve just come for drinks and loved it.

Kimihurura (for cafes and walking around)
The most accessible neighborhood for walking around, especially for a longer stay, is Kimihurura. This is the main expat hub, with a great mix of cafes, shops, restaurants, fitness centers, and more all in one area. I live here, too! All the options are near restaurants and cafes.
Kim Hotel
$100/night
Kim Hotel is in a great location for a long term stay. It’s close to the Mamba Sports center and some cute souvenir shops. If you’re here for a month or two and want to stay fit, Mamba has Kigali Wellness Hub (which has yoga, Pilates, dance, and more) and padel courts alongside Tugende cafe which is great for remote working or chilling.
Rubangura Luxury Apartments
If you love Kivu Noir, then you can’t get closer than Rubangura Luxury Apartments as it’s just down the road. These serviced apartments also have a restaurant on site. The pool is a big draw. It’s 5k RWF if you want to visit for the day.

Akira
$120/night
Akira is a new hotel that opened in late 2025 and it looks sooo good. The rooms are modern and have a great views. I got a tour of the rooms when I walked by.

The pool looks amazing too and the restaurant will be open in mid 2026.
Bisabo Suites Apartments
$135/night
For longer stays, Bisabo is a good option. It’s got modern furniture and a full kitchen. Several people rent out apartments for a year or more so you’ll find mix of tourists and expats here.

Kaciyru (my fav coffee shop area)
Yo Ki Ga Li
$70-100/night
Yo Ki Ga Li is a B&B, yoga studio, and cafe all wrapped into one. It is actually my favorite cafe in town, and the rooms are incredibly cute.

The breakfast and all-day dining menu is excellent, so you will always start your day well fed. It is also featured in my Kigali art walk guide since it is near the starting point. It’s also near the library and, if you’re here for work at the embassies, then it’s a nice walk to get the many of the embassies around.
Mövenpick
$130-200/night
The newest business hotel in Kigali, the Mövenpick, opened in late 2025. I haven’t been yet but if you can charge this hotel to your company, that’s probably the best way to go.
Kiyovu (downtown for work)
If you are visiting Kigali for business, downtown is one of the most convenient places to stay when looking for the best hotels in Kigali
Kigali Marriott Hotel
$250/night
When we first came to Rwanda to explore the country, we stayed at the Marriott because it was recommended by Wilhelm’s office. It has a great breakfast and business-friendly rooms with plenty of workspace.

Heaven Boutique Hotel
$150/night
Heaven is one of the most classic boutique hotels in Kigali. It has a relaxed vibe, activities on site, and a strong reputation among visitors. They also operate a separate Heaven Boutique Hideaway property. Many expats come to Heaven for the weekend brunch special!
Hotel Mille Collines
$300/night
This historic hotel is famous for its connection to the film Hotel Rwanda, which was based on true events. It has since changed ownership a few times and has undergone a fresh renovation. Today, many visitors still come for the pool, dining, and central location. The pool is a major draw and I know several people who come just to hang at the pool and get a drink.

Four Points by Sheraton
$230/night
The Four Points by Sheraton is a business hotel option that’s better priced than its competitors and also located downtown with easy access to the banks and offices.
ONOMO Hotel Kigali
$100/night
With sleek modern rooms, the Onomo Hotel is well located to get around all over town. There isn’t that much else around but you’ll always find a moto or taxi around.
Rebero (calm vibes and views)
Remera is a quieter neighborhood without as many cafes or restaurants within easy walking distance, but it offers stunning views over the city. If you are planning a longer stay and want something more peaceful, this area is a great choice.
Eagle View Lodge
$130/night
Eagle View Lodge is beautiful. It doesn’t have a ton nearby, but the views and vibe totally make up for that. If you’re looking for a fancy weekend getaway then book the penthouse suite, which has a hot tub.

The Pinnacle
$3,000/night
The Pinnacle is Kigali’s most expensive, luxurious stay. I have no clue if it’s worth the price and I heard the entrance fee is something like 50k RWF. Eek. Celebrities and guests of the president stay here.
Nyarutarama (near the running track)
If you are an avid runner, or just enjoy evening walks, consider staying near the Kigali Golf Course area. This neighborhood is mostly residential, with a few hotels along the main strip.
The evening vibe here is always lively. You will see locals and families out running and walking, which makes the area feel especially welcoming.
Maison Ubururu
$65/night
Maison Ubururu, meaning the “Blue House” has cute, blue themed rooms and a nice restaurant on site. I’ve visited for lunch to try the tofu poke bowls and they were delish.

Kigali Convention Center Area (for conferences)
Raddison Blue
$200-400/night
If you’re attending something at the convention center (and your office is paying) then the Radisson Blue is your best option for rolling out of bed and directly into your workshop. I stayed here for a conference back in 2023.

The Hut
$150/night
If you’re footing your own bill for a conference, then The Hut is a better idea than the Radisson. It’s an easy walk to the convention center.
